Knitting In Bryant Park I

It has been longer than I’d like to admit since I picked up my oil paints and brushes. Although this painting took longer than a typical piece, I am very pleased with the results. It depicts me knitting idly–as you’ll often find me doing these days–in Bryant Park; based on a beautiful photo captured by my coworker Nancy. During the summer (weather permitting) I have been leading free knitting sessions in Bryant Park sponsored by local yarn shop Knitty City ; although these sessions can get pretty hectic I do find times to sit down and relax sporadically.

Right now in my artistic journey I am beginning to explore representative portraiture and illustration. It has allowed me to unexpectedly unify different parts of my own life through art.
